Venture into the mountainous countryside of central Mongolia. Passing through a piece of sand dunes (probably, we would see camels) we will reach a historical town Kharakhorum, the ruins of an ancient historical Empire’s city, and monastery Erdenezuu. En route, we will see a very picturesque & historical mountain Khugnukhaan. After that, we will reach Tsetserleg, a central provincial centre. There, we will see many kinds of traditional & cultural sights at local museum. As for us, the next attractive destination is a dormant volcano Khorgo & beautiful White Lake. Its surrounding is very brilliant! We will hike through the stunning landscapes of the west, before unwinding at the stunning Lake Khuvsgul. By the way, Lake Khuvsgul is called as ‘Switzerland of Mongolia’, by some tourist coming in Mongolia.

Day1. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, capital city of Mongolia, and drive to ‘Khustai’s National Park (80km).
After early morning breakfast, the drive will take about 2 hours until we reach Khustai National Park where re-introduction of the wild Przewalski horses has taken place since 1992. On arrival you will have lunch at the camp. There is an interesting information center where you will be supplied with all the necessary facts and data. The afternoon will be spent at leisure hiking in the surrounding mountains with an evening visit to the wild horses while they come to drink in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 2. Traveling around “Piece of Sand Dunes”.
Arrive and drive to this place called as Piece of Sand Dunes. It is the northernmost edge of the largest sand dunes in Mongolia, called ‘Khongoriin Els’. This sand dunes represents landscape, climate & ecology of Gobi Desert, in this region. In 1991, the United Nations designated the Gobi as the fourth largest biosphere reserve in the world. The Gobi is vast. It covers almost a third of Mongolia and though it is classified as a desert, it is not as lifeless as the first time visitor might reasonably expect. While it is an arid area of largely homogenous scrubby steppe, it is dotted with camel breeders and some fascinating natural wonders.

Day 3. Visit Karakorum, Mongolian historically town.
The city of Karakorum was founded in 1220 in a valley named the Orkhon, at a busy point on the route of the Silk Road which is in the first large break in the chain of mountains. Karakorum was the centre of the Great Mongolian Empire until Khubilai Khaan moved his capital to Beijing. Also, you will see the monastery of Erdene Zuu which was built in 1586. It is the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia and, at its peak in the late 18th century the complex of ornate gardens and 62 temples was home to over 1000 lamas.

Day 4. Drive to Tsenkher’s hot spa.
Today we will continue our drive to sub-province or soum Tsenkher. On arrival, you will stay at tourist camp ‘Tsenkheriin Jiguur’ (Wing of Thenkher). A light dinner will be held for you. After breakfast, you will visit the spot where hot spring stew up under ground. The nature view & landscape scene at surrounding is really beautiful. In south, much densely forest walls, in north River Tamir flows to the east.

Day 5-6. Drive to Tsetserleg, a central Mongolian provincial centre, and drive to White Lake.
Drive to Khorgo volcano crater & White Lake (Terkhiin Tsagaan) Lake. You will stay here for 2 days. It is really fantastic. The landscape here is equally fascinating with extinct volcano craters producing various rock formations and huge gorges with fast flowing rivers and cascades. There will be an opportunity to visit a herder family today. Terkhiin White Lake, where once-active volcanoes have formed some beautiful terrain suitable for hiking.

Day7. Khuvsgul province.
This is a long driving day through the Khangai Mountain range. We will come to a mountainous valley with forest and a river. We will have a packed lunch and reach the Ger (traditional Mongolian dwelling – tent like shelter) camp in the evening. On the way you will have an opportunity to visit nomadic families of this remote area. Dinner and the night will be at the tent.

Day 8. Khuvsgul lake, the most popular tourist site in Mongolia.
After early breakfast we continue our drive towards the pearl of Mongolia, Lake Khuvsgul. There will be ample time for hiking in the surrounding hills, swimming in the lake, or just gazing out over the vast blue expanse of water. Those who want to ride horses can do so here, riding with Mongolian saddles, which are beautifully handcrafted, but are made of wood, so can make for tough riding! Meals and overnight stay at the Ger camp on shore of the lake.

Day 9. Lake Khuvsgul
Khuvsgul’s popularity stems from its classic natural beauty and the spiritual forces that bind the local peoples to each other and the environment. Several different ethnic groups live within the park – Khalkh Mongols, Buriat, Tsaatan and Darkhad. A small number of Tsaatan families live in the taiga forest north of the lake where they continue to live their ancestral culture based on Shaman rituals and nomadic reindeer herding.
