Day1. Ikh Nart Nature Reserve

Day1. Ikh Nart Nature Reserve – wild sheep Argali

We will pick you up from your accommodation & drive to Ikh Nart Nature Reserve (330 km – 5 hours mostly on the paved road). It is rocky hills or small mountains in the middle of steppe with semi-desert landscape, Ikh Nart which not filled by tourists & you will find gorgeous looking nature. This rocky landscape has weathered over millennia, into domes, weird shapes, craggy ridges and a mind-boggling range of textures. It’s a favorite with wild life enthusiasts — it harbors large populations of argali sheep is a sure draw. After lunch time, we will hike around the 2 springs, Khalzan Mountain and Burgasan Am for looking argali – wild sheep. We may drive further for a while. Overnight in the tent.

Day2. Suikhent Mountain – petrified trees & Shar Tsav – dinosaurs’ footprints

After breakfast time, we will drive to Suikhent Mountain (245 km – 6 hours on the dirt road). Suikhent Mountain is home of petrified trees of Jurassic Period which is about 60 million years ago and proclaimed as protected place in 1996 for protecting trees. Some of those impressive petrified trees up to 20 m long & diameter can reach at 2 m. After lunch time, we will explore petrified trees at the mountain and climb up to the top. Then we will drive to Tsar Tsav (50 km – 2 hours on the dirt road). The Shar Tsav dinosaur track site in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia, features numerous fossil footprints formed when the area was the coast of a prehistoric sea. At there, you can imagine walking along an ocean shoreline 60 million years ago with dozens of dinosaurs, who were looking to pick up a bite of lunch from what washed up on the last high tide. After lunch time we will explore the site. The walkway and pavilion are accessible. Overnight in the tent.

Day3. Demchig Monastery

After breakfast time, we will drive to Demchig Monastery (100 km – 2 hours on the dirt road). The 100-year-old monastery was destroyed in the 1937, during the Stalinist era. There is some interesting attractions including phallic rock, created by nature and Mongolia’s tallest stupa. Today so-called “omniscientists” say the place has huge energy. There is a cave of wealth, near to 15 kms from the Monastery, which locals believe it has ability to grow your money if you rub your cash in its walls. We will explore the temple & other interesting sites. Overnight in the local hotel.

Day4. Yol Gorge – natural museum 

After breakfast time, we will drive to Yol Gorge (335 km – 6 hours on the dirt road). Yol means vulture in Mongolian and the gorge is located in Gurvan Saikhan Mountain range & stretches over 10 km. The narrowest part, only 3 or 4 person can pass in same time, of the valley is completely shaded from the direct sun shine by high cliff walls. Also, the valley is famous for the fact that there is ice created in winter by small stream of the valley present there even during the hot summer months until mid of Jul. We will do an hour hiking there & then also visit to the small natural museum. Overnight in the tourist ger camp.

Day5. Khongor Sand Dune

After breakfast time, we will drive to Khongor Sand Dune (190 km – 5 hours on dirt road). Khongor is biggest sand dune in the Gobi Desert that extend from 5 to 10 km in width, nearly 100 km long, with crests rising 80 to 300m above the surrounding landscape. The booming sound produced by the masses of moving sand can be heard from afar when occurs windy day. Hence locals called it as Singing Sands. Near Khongor River at the northern edge of the dunes, there is an oasis. We will ride camels today to explore these massive sand-dunes and explore the area where climbing one of the dunes affords the energetic traveler with an unforgettable experience of endless vistas across a sea of daffodil-colored sand. Overnight in the local ger guesthouse.

Day6. Bayanzag – dinosaur site

After breakfast time, we will drive to Bayanzag (150 km – 4 hours on the dirt road). American zoologist Roy Chapman Andrews discovered this place and named as Flaming Cliffs. A lot of dinosaurs’ findings such as Protoceratops & dinosaur’ eggs have been found there in first time. The red colored cliffs themselves are very imposing from a distance, and are particularly fiery in the light of the setting sun. We will walk around the site. Overnight in the tourist ger camp.

Day7. Tsagaan Suvarga Cliff

After breakfast time, we will drive to Tsagaan Suvarga Cliff (255 km – 4 hours mostly on the paved road). It is sheer slope and was an old seabed with sedimentary structure created by millions years and the different colors of the ground represent different times. The formation is over 50 m in its highest point and continues 400 m and looks like a ancient ghost city form a distance. There is no clear date of geography research work and it is good spot take rest and overnight place driving to South Gobi desert from Middle Gobi desert. We will do some hiking around the site. Overnight there.

Day8. Back to Ulaanbaatar city

After breakfast time, we will drive to back Ulaanbaatar city (470 km – 6 hours on the paved road). After arrive in the city, you will be transferred to your accommodation and end the trip.

End time: around 17:00 o’clock
Total driving distance: 2200 km
