You will stay in the ger (yurt) in the Khustai National Park, the temperature is minus 37 or lower. It is beautiful, you need to keep the wood burner stoked inside but it is so warm almost too warm at times. Detailed itinerary of Gorkhi-Terelj & Khustai National Parks Winter Tour

Day1. Genghis Equistrian Statue & Gorkhi-Terelj National Park

Day1. Gorkhi-Terelj National Park

We will pick you up from your accommodation at 08:30 o’clock and drive to Genghis Equestrian Statue (55 km – 1 hour on the paved road). 40 m high Genghis Khan’s Horse Statue is believed to be highest equestrian statue in the World. There’s an elevator to observation desk on the top of the horse head & we will go there for taking pictures. Then we will drive to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park (40 km – 1 hour on the paved road). Situated 70 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar, Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is famous for its unique granite rock formations and pristine alpine scenery, and is a popular destination for tourists based in the capital and for Mongolians on weekend trips. First we will see the gigantic Turtle Rock. Then we will go to Ariyabal Temple. Then we will make short hike to picturesque lovely meditation Ariyabal Temple which is surrounded by scenic and rocky mountains and sits at middle of the them. It is not old temple. To get to the top, you would cross the suspension bridge and climb up on 108 stairs, according to Buddhist prayer beads. Then we will drive to the nomadic family (140 km – 3 hours on the paved road). Enjoy the joyful atmosphere and learn the clever nomads’ way of life by taking every chance of taking part in the nomadic life activities like a nomad. Then we will have some horse ride (1 hour). This ride will take you back through the Tuul River Valley area to the beautiful sights and sounds of Mother Nature for an hour journey up the mountain to view. With no experience required. Overnight in the nomadic family.

Day2. Khustai National Park

After breakfast time, we will go to Khustai Mountain (25 km – 1 hour the dirt road). National Park Khustai where re-introduction of the wild takhi horses (Przhevalsky’s horses) has taken place since 1992. Takhi is last wild horse subspecies surviving in the 21st century. It was discovered in western Mongolia in the late 1870s by the Russian explorer N.M. Przhevalsky. Then we will be spent at leisure hiking in the surrounding mountains for seeing the wild horses. If we luck we may see also maral deer & other animals. Then we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar (100 km – 2 hours on the paved road) & you will transferred to your accommodation.
