 Situated 80km northeast of Ulaanbaatar, Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is famous for its unique granite rock formations and pristine alpine scenery, and is a popular destination for tourists based in the capital and for Mongolians on weekend trips. Gorkhi-Terelj National Park was created in 1993 and it offers great opportunities for hiking, horse-riding, rafting and rock climbing. Terelj is a spectacular valley with high rock formations, pine – covered mountains and grasslands carpeted with wildflowers and edelweiss.
Khan Khentii National Park. This is the motherland of Chinggis Khan, and contains numerous important historical and cultural sites. Three major river systems have their sources in the protected area; the Tuul River, which flows into Russia's Lake Baikal and continues to the Arctic Ocean, and the Onon and Kherlen rivers, which flow east to join the Amur before emptying into the Pacific Ocean. Over 1,150 species of plants, characteristic of both taiga and steppe, have been identified. Over 50 mammal species, 253 species of birds and 34 species of fish make their home in the Khan Khentii Protected Area. The both parks lies at an altitude of 1600m and offers activities such as hiking, river rafting, h horseback riding, skiing and rock climbing. Terelj is a landscape of transition from Siberian taiga forest to grass steppe. In spring and summer the lush meadows are carpeted with wildflowers, and the mountain pine forests and broad streams make this one of the most beautiful areas in Mongolia.
In first day, after breakfast time, we will drive to National Park Gorkhi-Terelj. Our staffs will pick you up from your stayed accommodation. Before arrive in the National Park Gorkhi-Terelj, we will visit to Tsonjin Boldog which is attracted by Chinggis Khaan’s Grand statue. We will be on the back of horse of the statue by elevator and see picturesque open valley with River Tuul. Then we will continuously drive to the National Park. After getting in the National Park, we will meet with our horseback team including real nomadic horsemen, interpreter and cook. They will help pack your stuff into saddlebags in preparation for your Mongolia pack trip while our cook preparing lunch. After lunch time your adventure starts at river Terelj, which is surrounded by black forest. The ride to campsite takes about six hours, taking you deep into Mongolia's wilderness. You’ll pass through some of the most beautiful country in Mongolia on your way to the campsite, a picturesque valley. You will be sleeping under the stars or inside a tent.
In next day, you’ll travel at 1600 m above sea level through mountains, valleys, rivers, from N.P. Gorkhi-Terelj to N.P. Khan Khentii. Then you’ll take a secret trail to Gunj Monastery ruins for your riding adventure. We will overnight near place of the ruins of Monastery. Your group will stay in one or two private tents. Our campsites are located far away from civilization or plumbing, but there are beds with sleeping bags provided! You’ll be roughing it Mongolian style, as there is no electricity or running water this far into the wilderness. Take day rides into the Khentii Mountains into country that many Mongolian locals haven’t even seen. Because your fellow travelers are your own private group, you can decide which trail to conquer each day. Ganaa knows them all. Opt for the Wildlife Ride, a four and a half hour ride to look for wild bear, deer and other Mongolian creatures. Take the day ride to top of a nearby mountain to view and what seems like endless views. There more choices for day rides than there are days!
En route, we will visit to nomadic family have lunch at the nomads’ ger. Enjoy the joyful atmosphere and learn the clever nomads' way of life by taking every chance of taking part in the nomadic life activities like a nomad. Experience the milking cows, goats and sheep. Watch how they produce tasty and nutritious dairy products.
You’ll be provided with saddlebags for your personal gear, clean sleeping bags, water, towels and homemade meals each night. This is a great short trip to give you a taste of Mongolia’s wilderness. It can be added on to your vacation in Mongolia, perhaps before or after a cruise or other land adventure. You may want to add in more Mongolia activities surrounding this Mongolia pack trip. In the last day afternoon, we will have special respectful feast dinner “Khorkhog”. It is mutton and large chunks of vegetable cooked in a metal pot with hot stones from a flaming fire. You will be intrigued to see what is done to the rocks after the meal is served!
In last day we will arrive in the point that we started the adventure. Our car will pick you up from there and we will drive to Ulaanbaatar city. After arrive in the city, we will transfer you to your accommodation.
