Dating from the Genghis Khan era, the Naadam Festival is a showcase for traditional sporting events and a summer celebration enjoyed throughout Mongolia from 11-13 July. The most spectacular events for visitors take place at the National Stadium in Ulaan Bataar where nomads compete in wrestling, archery and horsemanship.

Lake Khuvsgul. Most popular tourist site. About midway along border between Siberian Russia and Mongolia, in a gigantic stone bowl nearly 110km long and almost 40km wide, lies 3% of the all the fresh water on earth-Lake Khusgul. On the merits of magnitude alone the lake is renowned as one of the earth's one of the most impressive natural wonders.

Karakorum. The state of Mongols in the 13th century was among the most powerful of all in the world. Center of the empire was Karakorum city until Khuvilai Khaan decided to move his capital to Dadu or Beijing. Gobi desert and semi desert.  In 1991, the United Nations designated the Gobi as the fourth largest biosphere reserve in the world. The Gobi is vast. It covers almost a third of Mongolia and though it is classified as a desert, it is not as lifeless as the first time visitor might reasonably expect.

Trip itinerary:

Day 1. 09 Jul. Arrive in Mongolia
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, transfer to hotel, free time, overnight in hotel.

Day2. 10 Jul. Khuvsgul Lake National Park (120 KM) /B,L,D/
Breakfast, transfer to airport, fly to Murun town (10.30 AM), arrive in Murun town (12.05 AM), drive to Lake Khuvsgul, arrive in Khatgal town, horseback riding, pass Mountain Pass Jankhai, see picturesque shore of the Lake, visit to reindeer herder family (tsaatan people), stay in tourist camp, dinner, hike shore of the lake, see night stars in the clear sky of Mongolia, overnight in tourist camp.

Day3. 11 Jul. Mongolia Naadam Festival (130 KM) /B,L,D/
Breakfast, drive to Murun town, stay in local HTL, participate Naadam festival of Murun town, visit to main stadium, see opening ceremony of the festival, lunch, see traditional wrestling competition and horse racing, dinner in local restaurants, visit to local horse trainer’s clan for trying horse riding, overnight in local HTL.

Day4. 12 Jul. Drive to Khorgo-Terkh National Park (280 KM) /B,L,D/
Drive to the National park, pass picturesque Mountain Pass Orookh, stay in the local yak herder family, lunch, climb up to Khorgo Extinct Volcano, dinner, hike to the Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur (Great White Lake), horseback riding along the lake, overnight in the yak herder family’s home.

Day5. 13 Jul. Drive to Tsenkher (210 KM) /B,L,D/
Breakfast, drive to Tsetserleg city, see picturesque canyon of River Chuluut, interest holy wood of Mongols – Zuun Mod (hundreds wood), see rock Taikhar, pass mountain Tsagaan, dinner at local restaurants, visit to local food market, drive to Tsenkher (Blue) Hot Spa, stay in tourist camp, relax in hot open bath, overnight in tourist camp.

Day6. 14 Jul. Karakorum (100 KM) /B,L,D/
Breakfast, drive to Karakorum, lunch, visit to Erdene Zuu Monastery Complex, see Imperial Map and Phallic rock, dinner, free time, overnight in local guesthouse.

Day7. 15 Jul. Middle Gobi (240 KM) /B,L,D/
Breakfast, drive to Middle Gobi province, lunch in picnic, get in the site of Ongi monastery ruins, stay in tourist camp, visit to the historical site Ongi Monastery ruins and its Ger museums, overnight in tourist camp.

Day8. 16 Jul. Bayanzag (140 KM) /B,L,D/
Breakfast, drive to Bayanzag, see huge Ongi plateau, lunch in tourist camp, hike around the site, visit to local ger museums, dinner, free time, overnight in tourist camp.

Day9. 17 Jul. Khongor sand dune (130 KM) /B,L,D/
Breakfast, drive to Khongor (Singing Sands) Sand dunes, lunch, free time, dinner, climb to the Dunes, camel riding, visit to camel herder family, camel riding, overnight in tourist camp.

Day10. 18 Jul. Yol Valley (180 KM) /B,L,D/
Drive to Yolyn Am (Eagle valley), lunch, hike in the huge gorge, dinner in local ger restaurants, drive to Dalanzadgad town, overnight in local hotel.

Day11. 19 Jul. Fly to UB (80 KM) /B/
Early morning breakfast, transfer to airfield, fly to Ulaanbaatar city (06.15 AM), arrive in Ulaanbaatar city (07.45 AM), transfer to the HTL, free time, overnight in the hotel.

Day12. 20 Jul. Departure /B/
Breakfast, transfer to airport, international departure.
