- Fuel Costs Policy: If you’re traveling within Ulaanbaatar city, there is no charge for fuel. However, for trips outside the city, fuel costs will apply based on the distance traveled. Please note that during your trip, you will be responsible for refueling the vehicle yourself. Each vehicle has a different fuel consumption rate. Please take note of the information listed at the bottom of each vehicle’s description.
- Payment Terms: A 20% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining 80% must be paid in cash before the start of the trip.
- Driver’s Meals and Accommodation: You are responsible for covering all meals and accommodation costs for the driver. Since each trip varies in style and budget, there is no fixed estimate for these expenses. For example, if you’re camping, the driver can sleep in a tent. But if you’re staying at tourist ger camps, the driver will also need to be accommodated at the tourist ger camp.
- Daily Driving Distance: On average, vehicles are expected to cover 250–300 km per day. However, this can vary depending on the location of tourist destinations. For example, the drive from Ulaanbaatar to Kharkhorin is about 360 km and can be reasonably counted as a one-day journey. If you plan to travel more than 400 km in a single day, an additional fee will apply for the driver. In Mongolian tourism, there is an unwritten rule that distances are measured in days rather than kilometers. Our travel advisor can help explain this concept and assist with route planning. Some days may involve longer drives, while others will be much shorter.
- Daily Rental Basis: In Mongolia’s tourism industry, vehicle rental fees are calculated on a daily basis—not by the hour. For example, even if you use the car for only half a day, you will still be charged for a full day. Please keep this in mind when planning your itinerary.
