Booking & Policies
Daily Rental Basis: In Mongolia’s tourism industry, vehicle rental fees are calculated on a daily basis—not by the hour. For example, even if you use the car for only half a day, you will still be charged for a full day. Please keep this in mind when planning your itinerary.
Fuel Costs Policy: Fuel costs will apply based on the distance traveled. Please note that during your trip, you will be responsible for refueling the vehicle yourself. Each vehicle has a different fuel consumption rate. Please take note of the information listed at the bottom of each vehicle’s description.
Payment Terms: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining 50% must be paid in cash before the start of the trip.
Driver’s Meals and Accommodation: The driver’s meal and accommodation costs are set at a fixed rate of 45 USD per day. This amount covers the driver’s three meals and overnight stay. With this arrangement, the driver will independently manage their own food and camping or lodging. However, if you prefer, you are welcome to have the driver stay at the same accommodation or tourist ger camp as yours. Please note that in this case, the total cost may exceed the standard 30 USD per day depending on the accommodation’s rates.
Daily Driving Distance: On average, vehicles are expected to cover 250–300 km per day. However, this can vary depending on the location of tourist destinations. For example, the drive from Ulaanbaatar to Kharkhorin is about 360 km and can be reasonably counted as a one-day journey. If you plan to travel more than 400 km in a single day, an additional fee will apply for the driver. In Mongolian tourism, there is an unwritten rule that distances are measured in days rather than kilometers. Our travel advisor can help explain this concept and assist with route planning. Some days may involve longer drives, while others will be much shorter.
